- First of all, you have to keep to a balanced diet. The calorie input must be enough to cover the exercise taken and divided between various light meals throughout the day.- Start with a good breakfast, have a mid-morning snack, eat well at lunchtime (but not too much!), have a mid-afternoon nibble and a light dinner, at least two hours before going to bed. We must follow a varied and balanced diet, bearing in mind the different food groups so as not to lack essential elements.
- Avoid calorie-rich foods in your diet such as sugar, cakes and deserts, sweets and ready-made pastries, or products that contain a lot of fat.
- Also, one has to avoid fizzy drinks, especially those that contain large amounts of sugar.
- Physical exercise is important as it burns calories and keeps the body in good shape. Walking briskly for at least 30 minutes a day is therefore recommended, or at least 4 times a week if possible. Get out and jog, ride a bike, swim or join a gym, all these are very recommendable accompaniments. The exercise taken should take a person's age and physical condition into consideration and it must be carried out on a continual basis.
- In many cases fluid retention and poor bowel movements make us feel bloated and we appear to be "fat". In order to avoid this, drink plenty of water and eat a fibre-rich diet.
