Pasiflora incarnata L.
DESCRIPTION
Perennial climbing plant of the family Passifloraceae.It has leaves deeply divided into three lobes, with fine hairs on the underside, and one-time margin finely serrated, and nervation reticulate.
Their flowers are long-stalked, up to 9 cm, with three bracts, pentamerous calyx, corolla composed of 5 petals white bear numerous white filaments purplish red, and 5 large showy stamens.
CONSTITUENTS
Flavonoids (2.5%): di-C-glycosides escaftósido and isoescatósido, 2 "-O-glycosides of C-glycosides isovitexina, isoorientina, vicenina-2, lucenina-2 and others.

Traces of alkaloids cyanogenetic.
Traces of essential oil.
Phytosterols.
PROPERTIES
Pharmacological Action: An activity anxiolytic, tranquilizing and spasmolytic.
INDICATIONS
Indicated in cases of restlessness, anxiety, irritability, difficulty sleeping (ESCOP and Commission E).
PRECAUTIONS
Do not consume if allergic to some plant passionflower or belonging to his family.
